Pots on the Patio

We collected 500 acorns from the Major Oak in October 2000, and planted them in 3" pots in our patio at home. 300 survived the first (very wet) winter, we potted them up to 5" pots then into 10 litre pots before finally moving them down to the Bear Mead Plantation 2 miles away. We soon found we could hardly move for pots. Later, when the oaks had been moved down to the plantation, we raised a crop of cuttings from old grey willows growing nearby on the banks of the River Stour.
