Annapurna Circuit 1982

2.5
Logbook of 20-Camp Trek made by webmaster in 1982 in Nepal. The Annapurna Circuit has been voted as "the best long distance trek in the world". Opened in 1977, now ruined because of roads built with Chinese help, which have changed the environment and way of life of villagers. With about 200 miles walking, using tents - no teahouses then. I saw Yeti tracks on the Throng La (18,000 ft).

Huayhuash Circuit 1984

2.4
Logbook of 16-Camp Trek made by webmaster in 1984 in Peru. The Huayhuash Circuit has been voted as "one of the best high altitude treks in the world". Most of the walking, and most of the campsites, are above the 4000 m tree line, so the landscape appears rugged and mountainous, affording views over very wide areas. With about 100 miles walking, using tents and mules. I saw Puma tracks on the Tapush Pass (15,700 ft).
