Since we bought the bicycles, the Police have certainly been more visible in Broadstone. We were also involved in the formation of the Shopwatch scheme. If you have any concerns or need help or advice, please contact us or call in at our Surgery in the Library (last Saturday of each month except December). Thank you all for your help and support. Happy Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year. David Williams. Darker evenings. With the darker evening here, it is time to set the time clocks so that you have some lights coming on. A house is less inviting to the thief, with some lights on. Bicycles. There is a great demand for bikes in the Run-up to Christmas. Poole and Bournemouth Police Divisions are running a joint project, to prevent pedal cycle thefts, called Operation Spoke. This project has many parts to it, one part being the supply of Trovan Cycle tags. These tags are available for issue, free of charge, to institutions such as schools and community groups, as well as to the general public. The Broadstone Safer Neighbourhood Team is organising the issue and fitting of these tags. But there is a limited supply and, with this in mind, the team will only fit them to bikes that are either fairly new, or of high value. Anyone who would like to be considered for a tag, should contact the Broadstone SNT, by email, and the team will make contact, to arrange a convenient time, for fitting. broadstonesnt@dorset.pnn.police.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cold Calling USE YOUR DOOR SECURITY CHAIN. Take care, there are very convincing. Lead and copper. There is still a run on stolen lead and of copper piping in the area. Most copper piping can be unloaded from the vehicle and locked away safely. Lead is not so easy to lock away, but you can secure the ladders to help stop thieves getting at it. A number of men are helping police, with their enquiries, after being caught locally. Christmas shopping. Enjoy your early Christmas shopping, but remember the thief is watching for free gifts, left on display in the car. We are also moving into a peak time for the theft of wallets. Make sure your wallet is safe and not on next month's list of crimes. Surgery Dates for your 2007 diary. There is no Surgery in Dec, as the Library is closed.
