BioBlitz at Bear Mead

I got an email invite:
Corfe Mullen BioBlitz - (A search for wildlife species in Corfe Mullen. How many can we count?) on Saturday 28th August from 9am to 9pm - our HQ for the day will be: Corfe Mullen Village Hall, off Towers Way, Corfe Mullen. BH21 3UA (behind the main Co-op & library) - To be opened by Hugh Miles at the Village Hall at 9.30am (world renowned wildlife cameraman from Springwatch 2010) - So, if you are a resident of Corfe Mullen (or the surrounding area) and you are interested in nature, please, please come along for a couple of hours! The BioBlitz is an opportunity for us to search for species in Corfe Mullen, alongside wildlife experts - can we beat a count of 100 species? What's in your garden? in your street? The Timetable at Bear Mead was:
  • 2pm-3pm. Riverside Walk - This privately owned land on the edge of the River Stour is open to us for the day. Help us discover the species that live in and near the river
  • 3.30pm-4.30pm. Wildlife Hunt - a chance to hunt down species in the meadows, hedgerows, streams and riverbank of Bear Mead.

2468. Sunrise through mist over the River, 0645 hrs
2470. Mist over the River, 0706 hrs
2474. River expert (Robert Aquilina, Ecologist) writing up species found, 1013 hrs.
2475. River expert collecting samples, 1131 hrs
2476. Lecture on the river bank, 1428 hrs
2477. A Water Scorpion (Nepa cinerea) lurks in the weed, 1445 hrs.
2478. Expert explains his creepy-crawlies to the crowd, 1514 hrs
